We are pleased to offer an alternative to those who are not otherwise able to schedule private voice lessons with Renee. She has trained several excellent associate voice teachers to teach her techniques in private voice lessons. Currently working in this capacity are Christy Sutherland who charges $120 for a private voice lesson, Misty Rae who charges $65 and Dawn King in Vernon, B.C. Dawn charges $65.
We urge you to consider the associates voice teachers as a great way to learn the same techniques you would from Renee. If you are just beginning your career, unable to schedule a private voice lesson with Renee, or are interested in singing only for pleasure, her associate voice teachers are a great choice. Many students learn the fundamentals by working with one of her associate voice teachers, then, when those are established, advance to Renee for fine-tuning.
Christy Sutherland and Misty Rae are the only two certified voice teachers who have been specially trained to teach Renee's techniques. Dawn King is Renee's only certified affiliate trained to teach in Canada.
CHRISTY
SUTHERLAND
Texas native Christy Sutherland moved to Nashville in 1991 to attend Belmont University. She graduated with a Music Business degree in 1995 and soon signed her first publishing deal. Christy has served as a staff songwriter for Patrick Joseph Music and Universal Music Publishing, with songs recorded by Highway 101, Pam Tillis, Big Country, Susan Ashton, Chris Knight, Sandi Patty, Kim Hopper and Triumphant Quartet among others.
A recording artist in her own rite, Christy has recorded albums for Epic Records and Giant Records with famed producers Garth Fundis (Trisha Yearwood, Keith Whitley, Don Williams), Mark Wright (Lee Ann Womack, Brooks & Dunn, Gretchen Wilson), Blake Chancey (The Dixie Chicks), and Matraca Berg (producer/recording artist and hit songwriter of such works as "Strawberry Wine," "Wild Angels". Christy has had multiple appearances on the Grand Ole Opry. Christy travels and performs Contemporary Christian music. She was the recipient of the 2009 Visionary Award for Southern Gospel Female Vocalist of the Year as well as the Diamond Award's Christian Country Female Vocalist of the Year. Her latest recording is the self-titled album "Christy Sutherland" and is distributed nationally by New Day Distribution.
She has been a student of Renee's for the past 17 years and an associate for 15. Her students include Julie Roberts, Kim Carnes, Julie Reeves, Jason Michael Carroll, Lindsey Haun, Matraca Berg, and Jeff Hanna of The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band.

MISTY RAE
Another Texas native, Misty Rae moved to Nashville in 2004 to attend Belmont University and pursue her music career. However, Misty embarked on her musical journey long before she set foot in Tennessee. By the time she was ten, she was writing her own material and performing at various Texas venues, eventually opening for country music legends such as Ray Price, Bill Anderson and Don Williams.
Since moving to town, Misty has maintained a steady performance schedule and has been writing with some of Nashville’s finest songwriters. She has recently been working with award-winning producer, Robert Ellis Orrall (Taylor Swift, among many others) and is polishing material for her next full-length album.
Misty has been a student of Renee’s for the past 10 years, has been an associate for 5. Her students include Amber Rhodes, Casey Jamerson, Keith Moody,
Savannah Craftons,
and Katie Chance.
DAWN KING
We welcome Dawn King as the first Voice Studio certified affiliate teacher and the only teacher qualified by the program in Canada. Dawn has worked with Renee for the last year and has been specifically trained to teach her techniques. She is a national award-winning author, professional singer, and professional speaker. Dawn’s studio is located in Vernon, B.C., which is in the southern-central part of British Columbia, half way between Vancouver and Calgary. She has over twenty years experience as a coach.
Dawn’s singing has inspired thousands of listeners. She has won many vocal talent contests and participated in hundreds of live performances in Western Canada over the past 10 years. Dawn and her husband Robert have a very active live performing "duo" www.DawnKing.ca.

MANDY BARNETT
A Tennessee native, Mandy first started working with Renee, during her role as Patsy Cline in the musical Always Patsy Cline. "Renee made a tremendous impact in my life. I had developed a lot of bad habits. Renee has given me insight on the importance of breathing and support, in addition to the phrasing and emotion that is so important in selling your song."
Mandy has made critically acclaimed records, appeared on David Letterman and The Tonight Show with Jay Leno. She has performed at Madison Square Garden and in 1999 was voted best country record in Rolling Stone magazine. Mandy appears regularly at the Grand Ole Opry.
RACHAEL LANE
Yet one more Texas native, Rachael Lane comes from a performance background, having played the classic Texas venues from FIESTA TEXAS to the house band at COWBOY'S. She came to Nashville to attend Belmont University and today may be heard on demos and live performances around Music Row.
Recognizing in Rachael an excellent instinct as a teacher, she has been trained by Renee as an associate and has been teaching under her for the past seven years. Students include Jen Foster, Nikki Cleary, Kim Davis, and Kristen Rambo. Rachael feels that, “What brings me the greatest joy in teaching is giving to others and seeing them realize their full potential.”
