I like to start at the fundamental center of the sound and work outward to the more complex. The warm-ups on this CD work like building blocks. You start with the most basic building block which is effortless breathing. Then you add the elements that provide support for your sound. Next you access the resonance, which gives your voice color and tone. Then, and only when those elements are working well together in the voice you use most—your speaking voice—you can begin to reach out by singing scales, starting with short and easy scales and gradually increasing the range and difficulty.
Make your warm-up as long or as short as you choose starting with the foundation points, and increasing coordination as you progress to the more complex. Always start at the beginning by re-establishing your Breathing. Time may not always permit you the luxury of a complete warm-up. You can go as far as time permits and still know that you’re covering the most important foundation basics in sequence.
The Vocal Warm-up is a great companion to the Vocal Master Class DVD!
